Cold War Boom

Joe and I trekked away down the coast to the Cold War Anti-Submarine Boom. Designed simply to block of Russian subs, this boom was built in 1944 and has since been partly dismantled, leaving the extant mile remaining. It was designed to replace another similar wooden one next to it, which was of a smaller scale.

From here you could see the Shivering Sands seaforts just above the boom, as in this image here:
